Stone Fiction was born in Timişoara/Romania in December 2000. The band was initially composed of members from other local bands (Dian, SE.DO.LA., Fragil, Radical din Val, Vals Hedone, Blame, Era Ticăloşilor). Starting members of the band were Sergiu Popovici (guitar, vocals) and Alin Rusu (drums), who both started various projects, the most important being SE.DO.LA. We could say that Stone Fiction is the offspring of SE.DO.LA., set up just after Radical din Val broke apart and Valentin Popescu (guitar) left the band to join Implant Pentru Refuz.
The new guitar player became Adrian "Coacăză" Ulmeanu (formerly Era Ticăloşilor) and Dorian Petrov (bass) was replaced by Tudor Mărişescu (ex-Blame). Shortly after some rehearsals, the first tracks showed up, followed by the first gigs in local clubs and open-air festivals.
A few months later the band recorded its first material: the EP titled "Fixion". After the recordings, the band parted from Adrian because of "musical misunderstandings". In the meantime Stone Fiction changed its name to Stone Fixion. Again, after a period of testing new guitar players and after a brief collaboration with Răzvan Răduţoiu, the band members continued to follow its trio-set course (Sergiu, Alin and Tudor).
The music of Stone Fixion is a combination of 70's Rock'n'Roll, Alternative/Grunge, Stoner, Doom and 90's Metal influences (Hardcore, Crossover). The three tracks on the EP have each a different sound: "Morning Grief" – Alternative/Grunge, "Supernatural Ride (Fire Illusion)" – classic Rock with Metal and a twist of Psychedelia, and "Real" which is purely Stoner/Doom (Ozzy's Black Sabbath). Some of the bands that influenced Stone Fixion's musical sincerity are Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, Monster Magnet, Black Sabbath, Tool, Grand Funk Railroad, Jimi Hendrix, Iggy and the Stooges and Fu Manchu, but there are many others...
The band's newest songs reveal a different face of Stone Fixion, a new way of expressing what has always been there. This is definitely a change, but it's a natural one. It represents the band's new concept and way of musical perception. The lyrics are based on day-to-day experiences, issues and opinions concerning everything that surrounds us... and beyond.
In January 2003, Tudor was forced to interrupt his performance in the band because of being called in the army. Therefore "Stagnant", the band's debut album, had to be recorded with the help of Pista Czifrak (bass), who became a session member. Also, half of the tracks on the album were recorded with Ovidiu "Bulbuc" Takacz (Implant Pentru Refuz) on vocals. "Stagnant" was recorded in the "Mosquito Studio" in Timişoara, from September to October 2003 with the help of Mirel Cumpănaş. At the same time the band played a few gigs with Iancu Cosmin on vocals, later Adina Fader was the (female) vocalist for some gigs, including the Underground Festival.
Since May 2005, the new vocalist was Daniel "Klepsy" Neagoe, who also recorded the vocals for the EP called “Wrong Age”, which will be released in autumn 2009. The EP features four new songs and contains a video clip (+ making of) for "Out of Sight", filmed, directed and produced by Dr.Winter, who is also responsible for the artwork and our official website. In December 2007 we welcomed our new vocalist Alex Popescu with whom we rehearse for new recordings and also play gigs.
